Greeting and Courtesy Councils

Purpose

The Hamilton Park United Methodist Church Greetings and Courtesy Councils are comprised of three groups, Council #1(Mature Adults), #2 (Adults) and #3 (Youth).  All groups work together to ensure members and visitors enjoy the worship service from the time they enter the sanctuary until the time they leave.   Council members are commonly referred to as ushers.  Ushers are:

            -  doorkeepers in the house of God

            -  watchers of the worship service and congregation

            -  providers of order in the worship service

            -  sources of information to visitors and new members

            -  helpers to those in need of assistance during service

            -  assistants to the pastoral staff during worship service

            -  individuals who lead members and visitors to seats

            -  people who help the worship service be an enjoyable experience for everyone.

Mission Statement / Vision

As the doorkeepers of the church, we are the first people others meet when they arrive at the church.  We fulfill the needs of the congregation so that everyone can enjoy the Spirit of the Lord during worship services.  Our ministry is the vehicle through which the church provides its congregation, newcomers and visitors, a personal expression of Christian warmth and welcome.

Our motto is:  If every Usher was just like me, what kind of ministry would this be?

Psalms 84:10
