Ministry in Motion
The Higher Education Ministry is a spiritually lead ministry under the Council of Age Level Ministry. The ministry is an outreach program to college members of Hamilton Park United Methodist Church who are enrolled in college or technical schools of higher education.
Some of our activities include a senior luncheon of HPUMC college and high school graduates, a freshman mentoring program, college prep workshops, preparing and shipping care packages filled with an Upper Room, letters of encouragement and snacks and desk supplies to our college members.
In our year of “Jubilee” there is now a Hamilton Park United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund” to award to high school seniors. Family and friends of Hamilton Park United Methodist Church are encouraged to contribute to this fund.
We truly believe “a mind is a terrible thing to waste.” As a ministry, our desire is to be an instrumental support to the higher educational dreams and aspirations of each student of Hamilton Park United Methodist Church.
If 1 person gives $5.00 for 52 weeks that would amount to $260.00
If 10 persons give $5.00 x 52 weeks that amount would grow to $2600.00
If 100 person give $5.00 x 52 weeks that amount would grow to $26,000.000
Currently the following scholarships bless our seniors and are recognized during the senior luncheon and student recognition Sunday.
The Dr. Frank Thompson Memorial Scholarship
The Justin G. Crockett Memorial Scholarship
Hamilton Park United Methodist Scholarship Award
The I.B. Foote Crusaders Scholarship and Memorial Awards
The Johnnie Hills Memorial Scholarship, awarded to an upper classman enrolled in Dillard University, majoring in the field of computer science.
The Higher Education Ministry of HPUMC wish to thank all of the members and friends of Hamilton Park United Methodist Church for your continued support in the ministry’s programs and activities.
There always is room for more – more scholarship funds and more ministry members. If you would like to join us or need more information, please contact Kim Mccree.
